Plasma microfield heterogeneity
Abstract:
Optical properties of plasma are determined by presence of fluctuating microscopic electric field. In the present work, we construct a simple ab initio model of plasma microfield accounting for its heterogeneity for the first time. This model describes reasonably populations of excited states and observed number of spectral lines. Also, it reproduces spectral line widths and photoelectric effect threshold smearing better than other known models.
