Modeling the process of filling a reactor volume with catalyst granules
Abstract:
This paper overviews the main approaches of modeling the behavior of granular solids using the discrete element method. Various approaches to implementing contact models, granule representation, boundary representation, difference schemes, and computational optimization methods are considered. The result of this work is the modeling of filling a volume with granules of complex geometry, which allows us to confirm the applicability of the chosen approach for subsequent simulation of granule fills of desired shapes.
