Calculation of electron elastic scattering cross-sections on positive nitrogen and oxygen ions
Abstract:
A calculational approach for the cross-section computation of electron elastic scattering on neutral atoms and ions is considered. Discussed method is based on partial waves and semiclassical approximation with the use of self-consistent Hartree-Fock-Slater potential. The method is applicable in a wide range of electron energies, has a relatively low computational complexity, and allows the calculation of differential and total cross-section of elastic electron scattering, and the transport cross-sections needed as well. Decent accuracy of the approach permits to use the calculated data in diffusion, heat transfer etc computations and in the transport phenomenon modelling. Calculated cross-sections for elastic scattering on nitrogen and oxygen atoms are compared to available data. Computational results for nitrogen and oxygen ions are presented.
