THERMOS: Ñonsistent solution of the radiation transport equation with level kinetics in simple geometries
Abstract:
In the study of laboratory plasma, the characteristic observed quantity is the spectral flux of radiation energy. Usually, the experimentally obtained plasma has a plane, either cylindrical or spherical geometry. For the numerical simulation of such plasma, into the THERMOS toolkit there was added the possibility of a consistent solution of the system of rate equations in the collisional-radiative equilibrium approximation with the radiation transfer equation. The code was verified on the limiting cases of optically thin and thick plasmas.
