Testing of the QGD-algorithm by a homogeneous isotropic gas-dynamic turbulence decay
We consider a gas-dynamic flow in a cubic domain with a single-frequency distribution of the gas velocity as the initial condition. For large Reynolds numbers the initial distribution decomposes into a number of small-scale eddies that give rise to the uniform isotropic turbulent time-decaying flow. We use the quasi-gasdynamic (QGD) system of equations as the numerical model for this flow. The study of the spectral characteristics of the solution allows to evaluate the algorithm features and to adjust the tuning parameters of the numerical algorithm for turbulent flow modeling.
