Development of System for Rehabilitation of Joints of Lower Extremity.
The work was carried out in the Institute of Mechanics Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics Russian Academy of Sciences, according to the plan in frame of Agreement between BAS and RAS. The device 'Artrokinetik G' was created in IM BAS for rehabilitation the joints of human leg. It realizes the principle if 'passive motion', by imitating the walking step cycle in norm. It can be used after the surgery intervention in joint, or after trauma. The efficiency of both device and method of its application was confirmed by real experience gained in 4 clinics in Bulgaria. The analysis of the results of the treatment process is presented for several groups of patients with different types of the joint damage. It is pointed out that it is reasonable to start the device application just after operation, the earlier the better. Several modifications of the device are described. The ways of further development and improvement of the devices of that type are outlined.
