Nonequilibrium processes modelling by stochastic molecular dynamics: collisions
Abstract:
Educational-methodical materials for the lectures «Stochastic Modeling» (MIPT, the base department of the M.V. Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics of the RAS) cover stochastic models of collisions and fluctuation-specified processes in plasmas and solids, causing phase transitions such as condensation of vapor in the discharge plasma and implantation of ions into the crystal lattice of a solid, as well as processes in dusty plasma above electrodes or in space. Kinetic partial differential equations and stochastic differential equations are solved numerically by Monte Carlo methods.Models of random processes in phase spaces allow calculate non-equilibrium size distribution functions of phase transition nuclei and estimate the properties of plasmalike media that change as a result of radiation damage to materials upon implantation of inert gas ions into materials.
