Design of Interplanetary Transfers with Unpowered Gravity Assists Using the Method of Virtual Trajectories
Abstract:
An adaptation of the previously developed method of virtual trajectories for the design of trajectories with unpowered gravity assists and deep-space maneuvers is proposed. As before, the database of virtual trajectories can be tabulated for any planetary sequence. Requirements on the mission duration and the start date are taken into account during the iterative procedure of database screening and refinement. The results of applying the virtual trajectories method to the design of mission to Jupiter and Uranus are given.
