Diffusion limits of some discrete ordinate difference schemes
Abstract:
Weighted mesh approximations of the radiation transport equation corresponding to well known difference schemes are considered. It is shown that in problems for a weakly absorbing layer of a large optical thickness τ* under the isotropic scattering the main term of ε-power expansion (ε=1/τ*) of the mesh solution regular component satisfies the mesh equation , which approximates the boundary problem for the diffusion equation determining the main term of the exact solution regular component. The accuracy estimates of coarse meshes approximation are given in the dependence on parameters and stabilities of the considered schemes are shown.
