Targeted optimization of network video services
Abstract:
The article compares the functional properties of the leading foreign and domestic services that ensure the targeted use of video files on the Internet. Historical milestones in the formation of the main standards for processing, describing and integrating digital video (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, MPEG-7, MPEG-21, H.263, H.264, H.265) are considered in the context of technology evolution to the current state. A special section of the article is devoted to the features of downloading, storing and organizing access to network video files using non-specialized file hosting, network storage, social networking services and video hosting. Because of comparing the properties of the names and descriptions of video files, their design and systematization through meta tags, categories, channels and playlists, recommendations were formulated for standardizing the functionality of video hosting. Particular attention is paid to optimizing the set of interactive services of network video players (playback speed and step forward length selectors, tables of contents, attachments, collective targeted notes, teasers, subtitles, end screens, attention retention analytics) in accordance with the intended purpose of the content used (storage, illustration of news and blogs, advertising, collection exposition, education, science and business). It is proposed to use a universal code for embedding video players in web pages of adaptive sites. The options for import substitution of basic and optional video hosting services are listed.
