Method of automated selection of reviewers of scientific articles, implemented in the scientific journal information system
A developed method of automated generation of a set of possible reviewers for scientific papers submitted for publication in the information system of a scientific journal operating on the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform is presented. The method is based on the use of Mathematics Subject Classification 2010 (MSC 2010). This metadata is used to define the subject area to which the research presented in these articles relates. The method is implemented as a service using OJS plugin technology. The selection of reviewers from the existing expert base is made on the basis of their competence and the number of scientific articles already sent to them for review. Control of the timing of reviewing and sending notifications are carried out automatically. The possibility of self-reviewing is excluded (reviewing of articles, the author (co-author) of which is the selected expert). The main stages of the implemented algorithm are as follows: the formation of input parameters; creating a common list of reviewers taking into account their specialization, workload and possible conflict of interest; selection of reviewers according to the best matching criteria used; Sending notifications to reviewers, authors and editors. The developed method was tested in the information systems of scientific journals Lobachevskii Journal of Mathematics (https://ljm.kpfu.ru).
