Expansion of subject domain of retrieval due to knowledge ontology of digital library LibMeta
The possibilities of expanding an information retrieval due to thesaurus of the subject domain are discussed. The role of the context defined by the thesaurus term relationships is to refine the retrieval as well as to increase the sample size on demand. Of particular importance is the process of expanding the retrieval is for scientific subject areas, where the search is based on a special terminology. In this case, it is necessary to use subject-thesauruses to minimize the appearance of information noise. The proposed approach allows taking into account the peculiarities of the use of similar terminology in various subject areas. Examples of the use of the thesaurus of separate sections of equations of mathematical physics and related fields demonstrate the effectiveness of the research approach chosen. Thanks to communications with concepts of information resources of other fields of knowledge, expansion of an information retrieval occupies search fields of the remote subject domains and various types of data, texts, symbolical, sound and video of archives. Researches show that expansion of inquiry on the basis of semantics of a context improves quality of search of scientific publications in digital information and increases efficiency of scientific cross-disciplinary research.
