The article presents the conceptual foundations of the formation of a Science of Safety, which is proposed to be called safetology. The relevance of this area of scientific research for ensuring the safety of humans, nature, and society in the context of the growing complex of threats in the 21st century is demonstrated. The structure of the subject area of this science is examined, and its formation is a neces-sary condition for the survival of global civilization in a rapidly changing and dan-gerous world. The scientific and methodological potential of Russia is shown, which should be used to address this urgent global issue. Priority research tasks have been identified for the near future in order to determine adequate measures to counter global threats and to create a security imperative in society.
