The article is devoted to a comparative analysis of the changes that have occurred over the past two years in the content of two ideological concepts of web 3.0 - the metaverse and the Digital Earth, both of which were introduced to the world in 1992, but have been developed separately until now. The Digital Earth project was developed with the support of different states, while the meta-universe was conceptualized and promoted only by a small community of private actors until recently. The article analyzes the meaningful change of the term «metaverse» from the middle of 2022 to 2023, draws conclusions about the prospects of further development of this concept taking into account its synergetic development together with the concept of Digital Earth, as well as the correlation of the terms meta-universe and Virtual Earth at the current moment of time.
