On an approach to determining the relations between
simple clauses within a complex clause in automated
text analysis
Abstract:
Automated natural language text analysis may
require, along with establishing the syntactic links
between separate words, determining relations of a
different level, primarily the relations between
simple clauses within a complex clause. This is the
problem the present article addresses. The rules and
dictionaries we describe are intended for texts of
scientific and technical nature. The author has
analyzed nearly 1000 sentences to obtain statistic
data. The determination of relations between simple
clauses within a complex clause is based both on
general patterns and on the properties of specific
words. The article considers two types of schemes
describing the construction of complex clauses out
of simple ones: linear and structured schemes.
