Positive control systems with discrete time
Abstract:
The first practical achievements of optimal control theory were due to its technical applications. Its applications to solving biological problems are relatively recent. The problem of computing the current coordinates of a moving object given some observations, i.e. the observation problem, is dual to the control problem. Models of biological objects often require the state parameters to be non-negative to be have some interpretable meaning. The article demonstrates that the problem of obtaining non-negative values for phase variables from non-negative observed values, i.e. the problem of positive observability, is dual to the problem of controllability under constant-sign control.
