Some problems in reliability and testing of control systems
The present work is a review which includes major results on reliability and testing theory. Reliability and testing is an actively developing area of research in the theory of control systems, which in turn is one of the most important parts of mathematical cybernetics. The theory of control systems deals with certain classes of discrete models that are dubbed control systems (CS). The review considers four classes of CS: switching circuits, combinational circuits, automata and programs. The article considers the problems of constructing reliable circuits with unreliable elements for both combinational circuits and switching circuits. The problems of constructing self-correcting circuits in the class of switching circuits, combination circuits and programs are considered. A brief review of major reliable circuit construction principles is presented. Also the article considers the problems of control system testing, detailing the table approach to tests, the structure-aware test procedures as well as control algorithms.
