Methods of numerical investigation of
magnetosonic solitary waves in plasma

Abstract:

Equations of electron magnetic hydrodynamics with nonlinearity, dispersion and dissipation caused by interaction between ions and electrons are given. These equations are transformed in form convenient for numerical modelling. Calculations of interactions of solitary waves moving in the same direction are fulfilled. It is found that in this case behavior of solitary waves is similar to behavior of solitons. Amplitudes of waves are not changed after interaction. Calculations of interactions of solitary waves moving in different directions are fulfilled also.
It is found that in this case additional waves are observed after interaction and amplitudes of solitary waves are not the same as before interaction. Decay of solitary wave caused by dissipation is investigated. In the case of low dissipation the solution is treated as solution similar to solution of arbitrary shock split.
It contains structure treated as combination of solitary wave and shock structure. Decay of solitary wave caused by dispersion is investigated also. The solution is also treated as solution with combined solitary-shock structure. At least decay of solitary wave caused by dispersion and dissipation is investigated.
